In the debate between which style of pizza--Chicago or New York--is the best, our answer is neither. We love Italian and European style pizza that is cooked in a brick oven with Italian-style crust and toppings. MidiCi, a new restaurant located in the Water District, serves up that style of pizza, a delicious salad and Gelato and Nutella desserts. They also serve a variety of small plates and Calzones, but with pizza this good, it's hard to even think about trying anything else on the menu. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Downtown Naperville that we'll want to visit time and time again.

The crust and toppings are what make make a truly great Itialian-style pizza. MidCi's Neapolitan dough is light, thin, soft and chewy, with a high crust. It's made from 4 fine ingredients: non-gmo double zero Neapolitan flour, water, sea salt, and yeast.
They serve a variety of pizzas that range from Margherita, Pepperoni, Shrimp, Truffle and many others. Our choice was "The Forest." The Forest pizza has Italian tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, rosemary ham (cotto), mushrooms, black olives all sitting on a warm Neapolitan crust--absolutely delicious.

There were several great looking salads on the menu, but we chose (and loved) the house salad. It is made from seasonal greens, baby arugula, grape tomatoes and parmiagiano-reggiano cheese. The dressing was drizzled around the plate and over the salad and was a nice and light compliment to the salad. It was enough for the two of us to share.
